Our family joined Colonial Country Club in January 2008 and we have enjoyed the club very much over the last two years. We have spent lots of time on the world class golf facilities and the pool is always a hit in the summer. One of the best aspects of the golf course is the ability to take your kids out and play on one of the two courses. My father did this with me and I want to pass on this tradition with my kids. Without the two courses I do not believe I would be able to expose my kids to the sport of golf. Because golf can be a time consuming sport being able to enjoy golf together has been a nice plus for our family.
Our girls have been members of the swim team for the last two years and my wife, Tracie teaches yoga classes at the Club twice a week. The best thing about the Club is the friends we have made there. We now spend time with a great group of friends even when we are not at the Club. If we had not joined we would not have met most of them. I think sometimes people forget you cannot put a price tag on the social aspects of a club membership. A big group of us attended the Club party for New Year’s Eve last year and had a blast. We plan to be back this year and hopefully Chris Hughes and Scott Gilliland will keep their shirts buttoned up this year!
The Club has also been a great asset from a business perspective. I work in the Marketing department at Wright Medical and we use the Club at least twice a quarter for company events. We have held business meetings there during the day as well as functions with family and co-workers at night. The Club always has great service and who can beat the backdrop of number 18 off in the distance. I will admit it is hard to work when you see the course outside on a pretty day but it beats the heck out of a conference room at the office. Last but not least the Club allowed Wright to have a “company day” out on the course in an effort to recruit new members. This type of marketing can and should be used to recruit new members to the Club on an ongoing basis. Colonial is second to none in the greater Memphis area and we need people to come out and see it. Once they see it they are much more likely to join.
